Biography
The defining artist of Marfa. Judd moved from New York to West Texas in the 1970s, establishing the Chinati Foundation on a former army base to house permanent large-scale installations. His aluminum boxes, concrete works, and philosophy of art in permanent space changed how we think about the relationship between art and architecture. His living and working spaces in Marfa, preserved by the Judd Foundation, are among the most important artist environments in the world.
